Common safety hazards in the use of pressure gauges

Dec 26,2023

A pressure gauge is one of the commonly used measuring instruments, widely applied in fields such as petroleum, chemical industry, electric power, and iron and steel. It can intuitively display the pressure changes in each link of the work process, gain insight into the medium pressure conditions in products or processes, monitor the safety of production operations, and construct fast and reliable safety through automatic chains or sensing devices to prevent accidents. It plays an important role in personal and property safety and is known as the "eye" of safety.

1.Installation and configuration do not conform to specifications.

Current laws, regulations and specifications have clear requirements for the configuration, installation, use, maintenance and inspection of pressure gauges. In actual assembly, problems such as reducing the number of secondary parts or the setting of dual (multiple) workbench monitoring, using dial diameters and ranges that are not suitable for work requirements, and arbitrarily modifying instruments used in special environments with flammable, explosive, toxic, corrosive and other special conditions in violation of specifications are prominent.

2.Neglect of daily maintenance.

During use, there are phenomena such as irregular inspection and cleaning, lack of usage records, the pointer not returning to zero or fluctuating severely, falling off of the protective film of the explosion-proof hole, corrosion of the dial or broken glass, and unclean dial.

3.Testing and verification work is not in place.

The verification period of pressure gauges is generally half a year. Compulsory verification is a legal measure to ensure reliable technical performance, accurate value transmission and effective production safety. Due to the fact that some users do not understand the safety function of pressure gauges, they fail to apply for verification in advance, and the phenomenon of using them beyond the verification cycle is very serious. In particular, newly purchased pressure gauges can only be installed and used after passing the verification.
